<![CDATA[Why Dental Implants are preferred teeth replacements]]>Mon, 29 Sep 2014 19:50:58 GMThttp://austindentalimplantcenter.weebly.com/austin-dental-implants-and-cosmetic-dentist-blog/why-dental-implants-are-preferred-teeth-replacements
Dental Implants –restoration for your Missing Teeth

There are a number of ways of replacing one or more of your missing teeth. Dental implants are an alternative to complete or partial dentures and bridges. Their main role is to support the artificially replaced teeth by acting as replacements for the missing roots. There appearance is similar to that of natural teeth and are comfortable.

Understanding dental implants

Basically, dental implants are artificial roots made from titanium metal. They are inserted into the jawbone to act as replacements for natural teeth. The implant is attached to the artificial tooth that is to be put into place. Implants act as anchors for holding the replacements into position.

Who carries out this procedure?

A dentist recommends when a person needs to have an implant as an alternative. When that is the case, he or she directs the person to specialists who are trained in the area. Austin Oral Surgery is usually performing these duties and are known as periodontists or maxillofacial and oral surgeons. Those who put dentures, bridges and crowns in place are known as prosthodontists.

The right time to go for implants

Implants are recommended for people with good general health, enough bone in their jaws with healthy gums to strongly hold them into place. For those whom their jawbone is not developed normally or shrunk, having a bone graft to build up their bone is recommended. Bone grafting is a procedure done as a remedy of adding new bone to the jawbone. The procedure is recommended a dental specialist. It is crucial to keep and maintain a healthy mouth, gums and teeth.

Placing the implants in a day

• The specialist or dentist or austin oral surgery does careful examination of one’s mouth and takes x-rays of the jaw, teeth and head to find out if they are the best solution for an individual.

• The very first surgical step is for the specialist to put the dental implant into the jawbone and it is normally under the gum tissue. Stitching of the gum tissue into place is then done. The implant then bonds with the bone and attaches to the gum as the tissue heals. Several months are needed for complete healing.

• The second surgical stage begins one the tissue has healed. An abutment is attached to the implant. This is a post which aids with the connection of the implant with the tooth. In some cases, both the second and first stage a are carried out together.

• A preparation of the artificial tooth is done and the specialist or dentist attaches it with the abutment. Several appointments are needed for complete fitting of the abutment with the tooth to take place.

• Anchoring a fixed bridge to the dental implants is needed when replacement of several or all of the teeth is to be done. A bridge is defined as a dental restoration which replaces one or many missing teeth by spanning them into the targeted area. Dental implants hold the bridge firmly at both ends of the missing teeth or teeth.

Caring for dentures and implants

Since they are attached into the jawbone, these artificially replaced teeth work as natural teeth. That being the case, they need to be cleaned like natural teeth with the help of a floss and toothbrush. Austin Dentists normally demonstrate proper cleaning procedures to their clients. Conducting regular visits to the dentist is necessary so as to ensure they are not loose and are in the needed working condition.

Additional information

• Visits to the dentist come to an end only when the process is done

• Most dentists schedule their checkups the following year as a means of ensuring the implants are in a proper working condition

• Good hygienic care has to be taken

• They normally cost more as compared to other teeth replacement methods and may fail to be covered by most dental plans. As opposed to other techniques or replacement, it is a one time cost.

• Though rare, injury to the sinus cavity or nearby muscles numbness, infection and bleeding are some of the possible complications associated with this procedure. Failure to bond well with the bone may also make the process to be unsuccessful.

<![CDATA[Implant Dentures: What You Need To Know]]>Mon, 23 Jun 2014 18:10:09 GMThttp://austindentalimplantcenter.weebly.com/austin-dental-implants-and-cosmetic-dentist-blog/implant-dentures-what-you-need-to-knowYou can lose your teeth at any time and anywhere. Many are often lost in sports mishaps, accidents, and more. So, what should you do when you suddenly lose the beauty of your natural smile? Thankfully, there are a number of oral surgeons in Austin that are able to give you back a beautiful, natural looking smile

Oral Surgery Procedures for Lost Teeth

When you lose a tooth, the first thing most people would say is to call a your dentist right away to see what treatment options are available. For example, if your tooth gets completely knocked out, roots and all, you must place it in cold milk and get to your dentist within thirty minutes so that the tooth can be reinserted. In these cases, there is a short window of opportunity to keep the remaining living tissue on the root surface alive. Milk is an excellent preservative for your teeth because of its neutral ph balance and high vitamin content.

When a tooth gets broken above the gum line, the most recommended procedure is a root canal in order to save the structure of the tooth; this is done by restoring it with a crown. If your tooth gets fractured below the gum line, the best option is usually to remove it completely and insert a dental implant, a bridge, or a dental prosthesis that can easily be removed for cleaning purposes. It is important to note that age is a determining factor when it comes to these treatment options. This is because bone loss that occurs in the jaw over a period of several years can cause oral health and cosmetic issues later in life.

What are Dental Implants?

Implant surgery has the ability to replace one or more teeth, as long as there is enough bone to support implantation. Bridgework and dentures address the cosmetic problem that a missing tooth causes but they do nothing to prevent bone loss. On the other hand, permanent implants are able to help encourage the proper chewing of food and are able to exert enough natural and appropriate forces to keep your jawbones healthy.

Dental implants are simply artificial tooth roots that are inserted into the jawbone in order to replace missing teeth. These implants are basically a prosthetic tooth or crown that is secured with titanium screws. Over time, the titanium implants will join with your bone in a natural process called osseointegration. Implants act and look like normal teeth plus they help your jawbone maintain its functionality. Dental implants are usually the best option for the replacement of your lost teeth because they can be removed and reinserted as needed.

<![CDATA[All on 4 For Teeth That Got Knocked Out All On The Floor]]>Mon, 16 Jun 2014 17:41:39 GMThttp://austindentalimplantcenter.weebly.com/austin-dental-implants-and-cosmetic-dentist-blog/all-on-4-for-teeth-that-got-knocked-out-all-on-the-floor I always thought I would have all of my teeth. However, things changed one day when I suffered a severe fall at home. The fall happened on my stairway. I tripped on one of my kid's toys and went falling down the stairs full force. A fall is already a terrible thing, but what can make it worse is that it can be life threatening when no one is around to help you. I was fortunate when I suffered my fall. My two children just got off of the school bus and came inside the house to find me knocked out at the foot of the stairway. My oldest son got on the phone and called 911 right away. My little girl who is much younger than her brother was very frightened and confused about my accident. Don't think falls just happen to old people. They can happen to anyone, and I'm living proof of that.

Then I heard about the All on 4 dental implants

The fall left me with a bad concussion, a broken arm, some broken ribs, and also a lot of bumps and bruises that left me sore all over. I also lost a few front teeth in the fall as well. This completely ruined my beautiful smile at just the age of 35. I didn't know what I was going to do about my missing teeth, which did need dental repair. My teeth were fractured below the gum-line and the fragment parts of my teeth needed to be extracted. I felt like a total freak with severely cracked teeth due to the fall. I had to seek out some solution to get my smile back and get my teeth fixed . Then I heard about the All on 4 dental implants. Maybe this could be my one ticket to having great teeth again. Therefore, I went and consulted with Austin oral surgeon who did have all the right answer. He did confirm that I could get teeth in a day with all on four implants. I had finally found my hero who was an oral surgeon in Austin that is very popular and professional.

What exactly are all on 4 dental implants?

All on 4 is a solution for anyone who needs replacement teeth that feel and look like the real thing. Unlike typical dentures, they don't need to be taken out nor do they need adhesives. This procedure can also be referred to as teeth in a day, since the work can actually be done in just one day. Just imagine having a new smile in just one day. Compare that to how many days you have been walking around embarrassed of your teeth and afraid to show a genuine smile in public. This solved my dental problems for sure and I would highly recommend it to anyone in my situation.

My Austin oral surgery experience was not as bad...

My Austin oral surgery experience was not as bad, as I thought, it would be. If anything, it was the polar opposite of what I did expect it to be, and I'm so very glad it did turn out that way. There are oral surgery procedures out there and then there are better oral surgery procedures. I'm happy that mine ws one of the best from the rest. This is because I had an Austin oral surgery that did go along very smoothly and didn't make me very nervous to have an oral conscious sedation to get the job done.

I spent many of my younger years afraid to go to the dentist. This time it was different. Not only was this a visit to repair my teeth, but it was nearly completely painless. Oral surgery procedures used to scare the crap out of me. What i hadn't realized is that since my youth, dental sedation has come a long way. We are used to seeing the next biggest thing in technology when it comes to smart phones and computers, but behind the scenes are advancements in the medical field. Trust me when I say you have nothing to be afraid of if you need any type of dental implants. Speaking of dental sedation, I'll leave you with a funny video about someone who just got their wisdom teeth removed.

Word on the street is the most experienced and prominent place to get this type of cosmetic dentistry is the Austin Dental Implant Center.

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus is currently one of the most popular female pop stars on the planet. She began her career in the limelight on the Disney channel, but her teeth were somewhat crooked and did not do her looks justice. She ended up getting dental implants at the age of 15 and this resulted in perfectly aligned teeth which looked great when she smiled. She had veneers which were implemented to make her two front teeth look less prominent and to give a much straighter look to her teeth overall. Veneers are a popular form of implant dentures and are available in the Austin area.

Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole is a famous singer and TV celebrity. She has appeared on the popular music song contest program known as X-Factor. She has also performed in the pop girl group known as Girls Aloud and has had several chart topping hits in her musical career. After having implant dentures her career began to flourish and she is now one of the biggest celebrities in the world.

Catherine Zeta Jones

Catherine Zeta Jones is a another celebrity that has had a fair amount of work done to her teeth over the years. She rose to fame in the mid 1990's and quickly became one of the most recognized film stars in Hollywood.
